    I cried, laughed and feared for this wonderful group of quirky people on Guernsey Isle. It opened my eyes to the horrors of WWII. There is sadness, but above all humor that made these people survive the horrors of a terrible war.

    I enjoyed reading this book and the fact that is based on some of the history of island of Guernsey prior to,during, and after WW2. Great read!

    This was a great read. Written in the form of letters, it was witty and insightful! I learned something new about WWII that I had never heard of before. The characters are very like able and I found that I didn't want to put the book down. Enjoy!

    Loved it! Totally different then any book I have ever read in that it is all in letters. Having so many different first person accounts is fascinating. I also enjoyed reading about the German occupation and of course I fell in love with characters, especially Juliet.

    I don't often give 5 stars to a book because as much as I enjoyed it, there is always a little room for improvement. But I give 5 stars to this book and only regret that we can't read more of the story, or learn more of the characters like Sophie. It has been quite a while since I was sad to come to the end of a book - I was sad today.
