    I received an ARC of this book from eBook Discovery, and here is my independent, voluntary review: Drawing Lessons is the loveliest romance I've read in quite a while. It's tender, steamy, interwoven with angst and anger, and peppered with moments of danger. When dutiful daughter/wife Marie's ambitious politician husband dumps her for his mistress, she recovers quickly and is glad to move on - it was a Washington DC dynastic marriage, love had little to do with it, and her controlling jerk husband ruthlessly suppressed her. When a friend gives her drawing lessons as a gift, Marie has a chance to resume an old favorite pastime. Lucas, her teacher, has a hidden past, is an accomplished artist and lover, and they begin a pleasurable sensory exploration which morphs into a steamy love affair. Luc paints Marie - she's lover, muse, inspiration and everything to him - but nude portraits of a senator's estranged wife have unforeseen political consequences. Those consequences fall heavily on both Luc and Marie, forcing them to either give up their love, or find a way to escape Marie's nasty husband and conniving parents. No spoilers, but this is a riveting and suspenseful domestic abuse thriller, a political thriller, and a highly sensuous erotic romance, all in one book, and I couldn't stop reading till the end. Julia Gabriel's snapshot descriptions and detailed characters breathe life into every page. Her plot steams with sensuous sexuality, and it enrages with depictions of the myopic greed and selfish evil of the Washington political scene.
